13-year-old deaf community of Xingsheng Church in Liaoning Province

A church in Liaoning province in northeast China has a 13-year-old fellowship of 40 to 50 deaf people, the Heart Spring Deaf Fellowship of Xingsheng Christian Church in Tiexi District of Anshan, the city of steel in China.

On the morning of August 14, 2022, Xingsheng Church in Liaoning Province celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism and Holy Communion. Seventy people and three others from the deaf community were baptized. Service workers preached the importance of Holy Communion and baptism in sign language on stage.

The deaf community was established in June 2009. Sister Jiang Xiuying said the community had received help and guidance from Pastor Ming Dasheng of Wanfang Deaf Church in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Pastor Wang Shengjun, a graduate of Northeastern Theological Seminary, said that since its inception, the church has allocated a hall dedicated to the deaf community as a meeting place. The fellowship had only four believers at first, and now at least 30 come to church on Sundays for the feast. During Thanksgiving, Christmas and other major festivals, the participants could be up to 80-90 believers.

In more than ten years of ministry to the deaf, there has been one non-deaf sign language colleague, three sign language deaf preachers, and a total of nine colleagues.
