The Church of the Immaculate Heart to mark the Easter Triduum

MERCER – Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 100 Penn Ave., will offer five events during next week’s Easter triduum, the three-day period between dusk Maundy Thursday and dusk Easter Sunday:

» Maundy Thursday Mass, 7 p.m. April 14

» Celebration of the Passion of the Lord at 12:15 p.m. and Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. on April 15.

» Easter Vigil at 8:30 p.m. on April 16.

» Mass on Easter Sunday at 8 p.m. (organ music from 7.30 a.m.) and 10.30 a.m. on 17 April.

Trinity Church hosts Palm Sunday Communion ServicesMERCER – Holy Week events will be featured at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, April 10 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St.

Children will deal with palms and pass out Palm Sunday symbols during the 11 a.m. service, and the church will follow a Tenebrae exploration of Holy Week events as children drape various objects in the sanctuary as the lights are on. diminished and the faithful leave the church in silence.

The adult choir will provide special music and the congregation will sing hymns associated with each Holy Week event during the service, leading up to Resurrection Day, which will be celebrated the following Sunday, April 17.

During the service, the church will receive offerings from Great Sharing Hour, a program of the Presbyterian Church (USA) that provides disaster relief, food for the hungry and local support and international for the poor and oppressed.

A potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 14 in the social hall will precede the 7:00 p.m. service of Holy Communion in the sanctuary. The choir of the choir will present special music.

The church is accessible to all, and adult-supervised child care from birth through preschool is provided.
