Church fire in Ocean Gate under investigation

OCEAN GATE, NJ – A Thursday night church fire is currently being investigated by the Ocean Gate Fire Department.
Breakout Ministries, also known as Ocean Gate Church, located at 400 Asbury Ave, caught fire Thursday, the Ocean Gate Fire Department said. The fire was contained to the basement of the church thanks to firefighters and several nearby agencies, the fire department said.
As of Friday morning, the scene was still under active investigation and officials asked people to avoid the area.

The Ocean Gate Fire Department thanked Bayville Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 17, Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 60, Forked River Volunteer Fire Department Sta 61, Ocean County Fire Coordinator K. Anderson, Ocean Gate Police Department, Ocean County Fire Marshals Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, Ocean County Attorney’s Office, Berkeley Township EMS Squad 55, Bayville Volunteer First Aid Squad 13 and all departments providing coverage at listed stations.
