Community Grocery Warrington store opened in Life Church

There is a new community grocery store in Warrington.

Life Church Warrington, based on Cotswold Road, has partnered with The Message Trust to create Community Grocery Warrington which opened yesterday Tuesday.

The store is there to help with the cost of living and provide affordable food alternatives as it bridges the gap between supermarkets and food banks.

Lukas Dewhirst, Senior Pastor of Life Church Warrington, said: “As a church we are aware of the increasing pressure on household budgets with the cost of living crisis.

“On our opening day, over 100 people signed up as new members.”

The store allows new members to sign up as members for an annual fee of £5, which allows for up to two weekly £4 shops.

“Members get around £30 worth of food for their £4 store which currently includes five servings of fresh fruit and vegetables with each store.

“Life Church Warrington is incredibly proud to partner with The Message trust to serve the Warrington community.

“As well as the food offering, we will also be running local classes to help people with debt issues, mental health issues, cooking classes and classes in exploring Christianity.

“We are also grateful to the local supermarkets who are also partnering with us to ensure that in these difficult times, feeding families, reducing waste and saving money.”
