Community Notes: Polson Church to Host Spaghetti Fundraiser for Cancer Patient


Fundraising for the spaghetti supper at the Polson church

The Polson Community Church, 1814 1st St. E., is hosting a spaghetti dinner at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 29 to benefit the Luper family. A “goodwill offering” will be collected to help Ayden Luper’s family cover expenses incurred while undergoing cancer treatment in Washington. Everyone is welcome. It is not necessary to bring anything other than your family and friends.

Make prescription drugs unwanted

The Drug Enforcement Administration is hosting prescription drug take-back events across the country on Saturday, April 30. The event aims to encourage the public to remove unnecessary medication from their homes to prevent drug abuse and opioid addiction from ever starting. The local event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake County Courthouse.

Democrats rally at Glacier Brewery

Lake County Democrats are hosting a “Seis de Mayo” party at the Glacier Brewery in Polson. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6. Please bring an entree to share.

Walk among wildflowers

Join a ranger on a guided hike to see the wildflowers found in local park units. The discussion will focus on the basics of identification and how best to take care of the beauties of nature and spend a lot of time admiring their beauty. The rides are open to people of all ages and interest levels. There will be a walk on Saturday May 7th at the Finley Point unit and another on Saturday May 14th at the Big Arm unit. Both hikes start at 9 am. Bring sturdy hiking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. Participation costs $4 and reservations are required. KOA Fun Run on the Horizon

The Polson/Flathead Lake KOA 5K and 1-mile Fun Run will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 14 at 200 Irvine Flats Road. The course is gravel and trail in a 1 mile repeating loop through KOA and open area. Admission is $25 for adults or $10 for children and includes a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes include a free night of camping at KOA, mini-golf and pool passes, and store items. Mission West looking for a contribution in coworking

Mission West Community Development Partners is conducting a pair of surveys to better understand the needs of small businesses and workers in the area. The surveys are part of a feasibility study conducted with a grant from the USDA’s Rural Business Development Grants Program to determine if it is possible to create a co-working space and work program in common.
