Don’t Laugh at Church, Kibicho Warns Gachagua on Police Uniform » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya, June 14 – Principal Home Secretary Karanja Kibicho has mocked Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua for pledging to change his police uniform if he wins the government.
Gachagua at a rally on Saturday denigrated the blue police uniform saying it belonged to the PCEA women’s guild and should not be worn.
Kibicho, however, defended the blue police uniform saying it was part of the government’s ambitions to ensure the local textile industry was promoted.
This, he said, has reduced cartels that have taken advantage of entrenched corruption in public procurement.
“The policy has considerably developed the local textile industry and created many direct and indirect jobs that support thousands of families. Our officers are now better equipped at much lower costs,” Kibicho said.
The Principal Home Secretary insisted that the new police uniform was a government decision made between the Administrative Police and the Kenya Police.
Gachagua had said the Kenya Kwanza regime would scrap the new blue police uniform saying it belonged to the church.
You have suffered so much at the hands of Matiang’i and Kibicho. Even the new blue uniform you don’t want will be revoked and we’re back to the old one. The blue will be left for the PCEA church. This is the uniform of the women’s guild”.
Gachagua blasted interior PS Karanja Kibicho and its boss Fred Matiang’i accusing them of intimidating police and forcing them to back Azimio candidate Raila Odinga.
He urged the police not to give in to pressure from above saying they will right any wrongs that come their way once they win the upcoming polls.
“We want to tell the chiefs that we have heard that they are being bullied into helping Raila win or else they risk losing their jobs. Don’t worry, we only have 57 days left and we’ll get you your jobs back. We want to assure all agents that their work is safe. »
