Former Church Minister Wylie accused of sexually assaulting child

YLIE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – A former minister at a church in Wylie was arrested on Friday January 7 for sexually assaulting a child after charges surfaced last month.

On December 12, 2021, a staff member at the First Baptist Church of Wylie contacted the Collin County Sheriff’s Office to report another staff member of alleged sexual assault.

During their investigation, Sheriff’s Office investigators identified a 15-year-old girl who revealed she had been inappropriately touched by Wylie Junior High First Baptist Church minister Timothy Wells.

Wells had been an employee of the church since January 2019. He was immediately put on leave and his job was subsequently terminated.

Sheriff’s Office investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Timothy Wells, charging him with indecent assault on a child through sexual contact, a second degree felony. Wells has turned into the Collin County detention center where he was incarcerated and is being held in lieu of a $ 25,000 bond.
