South Plains Community Action provides mortgage assistance to income-eligible households affected by COVID-19. The program will help eligible households pay up to six consecutive months of full and / or partial mortgage payments, including mortgage arrears, according to a leaflet from the SPCAA. Seth Ward Baptist Church, 601 E. 24e St., offers a men’s prayer breakfast every second Saturday of the month at 8 a.m.

A Celebrate Recovery course is hosted by Johnny Beavers at Seth Ward Baptist Church, 601 E. 24e St., every Friday at 6.30 p.m.

The Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 1504 Houston in Plainview, invites the public to pray at the church from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Friday. You don’t have to be a member of the church to attend and pray. For those who are homebound or sick, the church ministry will come and pray for you in your home. Our Lady of Guadalupe offers a soup kitchen in the cafeteria once a month. A soup kitchen coordinator said it was run by the church’s CCD program. He helps the children involved get community service credits. Delivery is available. Soup kitchens are generally offered on the third Saturday of the month. Meals are served from noon to 2:00 pm at 211 W. Seventh Street.

The Plainview Dance Club holds dances at First Christian Church in Plainview once a week. Dances are held Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Third Church on the East Service Road of Interstate 27. Snacks and performances are available for those who wish to join in the dancing and fellowship. . It is forbidden to smoke and / or drink. The event is open to everyone. The registration fee is $ 5 for members, $ 7 for non-members, or $ 10 for a one-year membership.

Worship at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Plainview takes place every Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
