BRATTLEBORO — BrattRock, a youth festival presented by sponsor Guilford Sound returns with its first in-person performances Saturday at The Stone Church from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. All ages are welcome.
Moxie, a four-piece indie rock band formed in January 2017 in Brattleboro, is headlining BrattRock on their Summer ’22 tour and will perform hits from both Fall LP and Flow of Color albums.
According to the band, Moxie draws from a wide range of inspirations “sticking together the influences of grooves and melodies that span decades forming together”. This creates a sound that simultaneously evokes the comfort of a classic and the wonder of an entirely new sound.
Moxie features Rei Kimura’s powerful vocals reminiscent of classic soul and blues, Leander Holzapfel’s shimmering and dynamic lead guitar, Daniel Snyder’s impossibly tight grooves and David Cohen’s basslines that often blur the line. in a main instrument. Together, their influences mix and swirl, creating a hybrid that sounds truly, unambiguously, Moxie.
Crediting BrattRock as an influence in the development of their signature sound, Moxie is thrilled to return for this “comeback gig.” Local garage punk band Man Made Tragedies also perform; Granite Danes, billed as “eclectic Portsmouth comedians”; Big Destiny, a dance group from Western Massachusetts; Golden Marilyn, a post-punk band from Keene, NH; and Pencil Biters, a progressive rock band from Londonderry, VT.
