New Members of the Relief Society General Advisory Board
Nine members have been called to the Relief Society General Advisory Board. They will work with the Relief Society general presidency to help meet the needs of women throughout the world.
Dana Earl, 59, Valley View 10th Ward, Salt Lake Valley View Stake. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Shirman S. Milliner and Mary Coleman Milliner. Earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Utah State University. Married to Robert Earl; four children and five grandchildren. Stake Primary president, counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency, ward Relief Society and Primary president, counselor in the ward Young Women presidency, Relief Society teacher, Young Women and Primary, nursery leader, Primary activity day leader, ward Primary music leader, temple worker ordinance, and full-time missionary in the Coventry English Mission.
Andrea McConkie, 43 Valley View 5th Ward, Salt Lake Valley View Stake. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard K. Ence and Marla Tingey Ence. Has a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from the University of Utah, works as an operations manager for an insurance consulting firm. Married the late Stephen L. McConkie, Jr.; a kid. Has served as a counselor in the stake Young Women presidency, counselor in the stake and ward Relief Society presidency, ward Young Women president, Relief Society teacher, Primary teacher, Sunday school and full-time missionary in the Halifax Canadian Mission.
Hannah Miller, 33, Wells Ward, Salt Lake Granite Pile. Born in Littleton, Colorado, to James A. Miller and Carol Ranzenberger Miller. Earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from BYU and a master’s degree in comparative studies (art history) from BYU. Works as an initiatives specialist for the Temple Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served as ward Relief Society president, counselor in the ward Relief Society presidency, Relief Society teacher, and gospel doctrine teacher.
Sharlene Miner, 59, 6th District Meadows, Draper Utah Meadows Stake. Born in Boise, Idaho, to Gerald E. Adamson and Nancy Belliston Adamson. Earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from BYU and an MD from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Works as an emergency doctor. Married to Gary L. Miner; five children. Served as counselor in stake Primary and Relief Society presidency, president and counselor in ward Relief Society presidency, counselor in ward Primary presidency, activity day leader, missionary musician and singer in the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, ward pianist and organist, ward choir leader, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and full-time missionary in the Kobe Japan Mission.
Carolee Scocoft, 59, Neff’s Canyon neighborhood, Salt Lake Mount Olympus Stake. Born in Salt Lake City to Marilyn Jackson Clawson and Truman F. Clawson. Earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. Married the late John A. Scowcroft; five children. Counselor in the stake Primary presidency, member of the stake public affairs committee, ward Relief Society and Primary president, counselor in the ward Relief Society and Young Women presidency, ward Primary music, ward activity day leader, nursery leader, Relief Society teacher, Primary teacher, and Sunday School teacher.
Mitzi Semo, 54, Orem 12th Ward (Samoan), Provo Utah 1st Stake (Tongan). Born in San Francisco, California, to Tauivi M. Tuinei and Sylvia Meyers Tuinei. Earned an associate’s degree in liberal arts from BYU-Hawaii and a bachelor’s degree in business management from BYU-Idaho; works as a service manager at BYU. Married to Mickey Semo; four children, seven grandchildren. Served as stake Young Women president, ward Primary president, ward Young Women counselor and Primary presidency, ward Young Women camp director, Young Women counselor, Primary teacher, pianist ward director, family history consultant, and full-time missionary in the Paraguay Asuncion Mission.
Sandra Singer, 54, 3rd Ward North Field, Pleasant Grove Utah North Field Stake. Born in Palo Alto, California, to Thomas W. Mackay and Rosemary Tyler Mackay. Earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from BYU. Married to Jeffrey H. Singer; seven children and four grandchildren. Served as communications director for the Middle East/North Africa Area, stake Young Women president, Relief Society and ward Primary president, Primary teacher, Primary, ward music leader, Sunday School teacher, temple ordinance worker, and full-time missionary in the Seoul Korea Mission.
Andrea Spannaus, 54 Eagleridge Neighborhood, North Salt Lake Utah Parkway Stake. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Carlos A. Muñoz and Elida Menicucci. Earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and also studied art and interior design. Married to Alin Spannaus; two children. Served as a member of the South America South Area committee to organize For the Strength of Youth conferences, counselor in the stake Primary presidency, ward Primary, Young Women and Relief Society president, teacher Relief Society teacher, Sunday School teacher, Primary teacher, morning seminary teacher, temple ordinance worker, ward counselor for Spanish-speaking young single adults, and full-time missionary in the Argentine Resistencia Mission . She and her husband served as mission leaders in the Mexican Cuernavaca Mission (2009-2012).
Elaine Thorton, 56, Emigration Canyon neighborhood, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, to William B. Featherston and Frances Jones Featherston. Married to Erin Thornton; three children. Owner of a general contractor/design office. Served as ward Young Women president, stake young adult specialist, ward Relief Society, Young Women counselor and Primary presidency, temple ordinance worker, and downtown Salt Lake City missionary.
