Superstar Eric Church is officially not in New England this summer

Eric Church performed the final show of his “Gathering Again” tour around the country in New York. This is what “The Chief” comes closest to New England during the summer.

Q Prime management, who I spoke with backstage at the New York show, confirmed that Church would not be returning to New England for a summer show. He performs in stadiums across the country and will continue his “Gathering Again” arena tour in Canada.

Rumors are swirling about a bigger show at Fenway Park, or possibly Gillette Stadium. However, that will not happen this year.

Church is no stranger to Gillette Stadium, touring with Kenny Chesney in 2013 for the “No Shoes Nation” tour. But Church has earned superstar status with his rabid fans, “The Church Choir” and country rock concerts, which have crowds thrilling.

In New York, while on stage, Church signed boots passed on by fans, wrapped himself in an American flag with his figure in the middle and “Gather Again Tour” on one of the stripes.

Church also took boots from the audience and signed them, a nod to her #1 song “These Boots.” Jack Daniels bites were passed to him on stage by his fans, and he took one, opened it and pushed it away. The crowd went crazy.

There was also a surprise guest. Ashley McBryde sang for the show, with regular backup vocalist Joanna Cotton ailing.

Church’s last appearance in the New England area was in December 2021 at Southern New Hampshire University Arena in Manchester.

Hopefully a stadium show is in its future here in New England. Fingers crossed for “The Chief” in 2023.
